Prosthodontics is one of thirteen recognised specialities by the General Dental Council. A prosthodontist is dentist who has undertaken further study and experience to enhance his skills in dealing with complex dental problems such as replacing missing teeth, perfecting your smile and restoring your bite. To acquire the 'prosthodontist specialist' title requires dedication to further training for up to 5 years after completing dental school. It requires the confidence to stand up and be tested by some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed dental consultants. Who along with the General Dental Council scrutinise these dentists before allowing them to enter this elite group.
